Words of Wisdom

Never Argue with an Idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Yes, a very negative thought. Yet this describes my experience with our insurance provider trying to find an answer to a simple question. Three blue cross reps later and three different answers later this is how I feel.

Things from our backyard

Connor at 4! The boy loves to have his picture taken.

PRETTY IN PINK

As I sorted through family pics I noticed a trend with Chloe. She's always wearing pink! It's her favorite color and will change her clothes during the day if she doesn't have something pink on. When Grandma Nan asked what kind of Valentine candy she liked Coco replied "PINK". For her birthday she has told us she wants shoes! Pink shoes with bows. What a girlie girl she is turning out to be.

Lucy and Ethel

I was talking to my friend Leah the other day and was reminded what a blessing a true friend is. She referred to us as Lucy and Ethel or Gail and Oprah. As I went to sleep last night I decides perhaps we could be Wilma and Betty or Ginger and Maryanne. They never had to decide what to wear, they always wore the same outfit. Both had great figures and ridiculously small waists! Regardless of who we resemble most I'm thankful to have her as my friend.

Walk with me and be my friend...

We are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

Craig is out of town for a Les Schwab meeting for a few days. I realized tonight just how much I need his adult company and conversation at the end of the day. Today every statement I made to Con and Coco was answered with a "Why" or "How Come". I found myself wanting to revert to the standard old "BECAUSE I SAID SO" rather then search for a meaningful answer. Connor has been learning bible verses at school and teaching them to Coco at home. One verse he recently learned ends with ...we are his people and the sheep of his pasture. Both have been saying this verse for weeks. Today Connor listened to the words and struggled with the meaning.

Connor: Mom we're not sheep. Why does God want us to be sheep?

Mom: No Connor we're not sheep. It means God takes care of us like a shepard caring for his sheep.

Connor: I don't want to be a sheep. I don't like sheep!

Mom: Honey, you don't have to be a sheep. It simple means God will watch over you.

Connor: I really don't want to be a sheep. Sheep are white, I don't like white, can I be a tractor instead? Will he still watch over me? What about dinosaurs, shepards don't watch over dinosaurs, I want to me a T-Rex they eat sheep.

Mom: Yes, you can be anything you want its just a metaphor. I does NOT mean you have to be a sheep.

Connor: Coco doesn't want to be a sheep she wants to be a kitty. She likes kitties, can she be a kitty Mom?

Mom: Yes, she can.

Connor: OKAY. I'll just be plain Connor, okay Mom. Can I have a snack?

And then all was well at the Hendrickson house. We don't have to be sheep God will still watch over us and Yes, we can have a snack.

Our Princesses, Sam was Homecoming Princess this year and Coco

Sam is not so vain her's is stuffed in her closet!

My first try

Connor as Joseph in this school Chritmas play.

Wow, I think I created my first blog. This is an amazing accomplishment for a mother who depends on her eldest daughter to handle all tech matters for the family. Today was my attempt to prepare for Samatha's departure for college. I have 8 months to get technically up to date before she leaves.
The kids had such fun at Christmas. A family friend (Cindy Dodge) gave them special hot chocolate cups for the holidays! Definately one of their favorite treats!
